Interesting Times

While last year involved packing up and transitioning into a new learning environment, this year has been a totally different ball game, that has once again forced us out of our comfort zone and presented us with new challenges. Overnight, our lives changed and Covid[HT1] -19 set us on a new journey that required us to become both responsive and resourceful.  We have learnt that we are creative, adaptable, and resilient people. We have done our best to move from face to face to on-line learning. It has taken a mind shift and some up-skilling, and while it has not suited everyone, we have remained positive, and mostly, we have coped pretty well. For our small department it has meant learning to run google meets and on-line homework centres. And it almost derailed our Peer Assisted Learning Programme. However, thanks to the commitment of the twenty or so year 13s who stuck with it, we were able to finally get the programme up and running for term 3. Lucky are those year 9s who have benefitted from the one-to-one tutoring. We would like to thank our 2020 PAL tutors for their efforts and persistence. We also want to thank the four year 13s who generously diverted their support into running a weekly lunchtime games session with a group of students from Learning Support. This was also a great success. The year has passed quickly and has been an interesting one indeed.
